With the poker live event world thrown into chaos by the coronavirus, the organisers of the World Series of Poker have come up with an innovative plan to play out the main event.
There will be two parallel tournaments – ‘domestic’ for the United States and ‘international’ for the rest of us. Both will play out online, using exactly the same structure.
The US final will be staged at the reopened Rio Casino in Las Vegas on December 28, the the international final will be in the Czech Republic on December 15.
US players must be in New Jersey or Nevada to play their event on the WSOP.com website. A single day 1 flight is slated for December 13, with a day 2 the following Monday, playing down to the final table.
The GGPoker site will host the international online event, beginning November 29 and continuing on December 5 and 6 to the final table.
Players will be allowed to play in only one of the events.
