20 US military personnel injured in pillow fight

At least 30 soldiers were injured during the annual tradition of the end of summer pillow fight at West Point Academy, NY.

West Point Pillow Fight

Learning not to play fair

In the yearly tradition that has been going since 1897 and designed to build “espirit de corps”, at least 24 soldiers were left unconscious, some with broken noses and dislocated limbs after pillows were stuffed with “hard objects”.

While the United States Military doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to friendly fire, it is unusual for them to injure each other rather than their valued allies.

West Point superintendent Lt Gen Robert Caslen said in a statement: “While these spirit events do occur, we never condone any activity that results in intentional harm to a teammate.¬†Although the vast majority of the class appears to have maintained the spirit of the event; it is apparent that a few did not.”

A video of the event was posted on YouTube and was swiftly removed shortly after.

Someone’s scrubbing some latrines now, for sure.
